Description
Jason Viola creates a trio of delicate reflections on the nature of flowers, and their relation to our own mortality.
1. Sunflower – investigating the mysterious ways in which nature acts all around and within us, without us understanding why.
2. Kadapul – on the fragility of life itself.
3. Orchid – how our time on earth is so temporary, and how in this way, we are less impressive than some of the other life that also occupies our planet.
While a lot of Jason’s other comics revolve around biology, Fear of Flowers is a big departure in that it contains no jokes, no plays on words, just searing honesty and beauty accompanying lovingly rendered drawings.
