Description
At her core, Dina Kelberman seems to be an experimenter. The Regular Man originally appeared in the mail as single-sheet pamphlet comics released on a near-monthly schedule for 23 issues. The front and back of each pamphlet was a fake book cover, mostly photoshopped pulp novels with the books’ title replaced with “The Regular Man.” Inside, the two-page spread iterations were experiments in form, while tackling themes familiar to Dina’s readers, self-doubt, self-improvement, and self-doubt about self-improvement.
In these short explosions of color and line, Dina had the freedom to really play with the comic’s format, lettering and directing readers eyes. The result is some of Dina’s boldest, most daring, most challenging and most rewarding comics.
