Description
Kevin Czap (of Czap Books) and L. Nichols (of Grindstone Comics) work together to co-publish a series of comics that explore the intersection between art, comics and culture, called Ley Lines.
In The Letting Go, Kevin steps from behind the co-publisher hat to write and draw a comic inspired by the works of Dutch conceptual artist Bas Jan Ader. A lot of Ader’s work tried to evoke pure unadulterated emotion, which Kevin tries to capture in The Letting Go by diving into the inner monologue of a teenager at a sleepover.
Kevin’s comics value emotion over narrative, so it’s no surprise they deftly weaves words and imagery to evoke the relief and vulnerability of uncontrollable crying. Like a rain storm, or a flood, or the perfect notes of an emotional song, Kevin’s comic feels untethered and unstoppable.
