Description
Jaclyn Miller’s Rememberies series collects short stories about her childhood.  Stories include young Jaclyn stealing quarters from a wishing well,  obsessing over losing teeth, and a list of all of the pet rodents she came in contact with at her friends’ houses.
In her introduction, she explains part of the motivation to draw these comics came from observing children as a nanny, and that “kids are just 100% unfiltered WEIRDOS.” Unlike many autobiographical reflections as a child, Jaclyn tends to focus on the inner reasoning of her six-year old self. It’s not that she steals quarters from a zoo’s wishing well, but rather the way her child-mind works to both make her feel terribly guilty, but then to cover up her crime, and then a year later, atone for her sins.  The leaps in logic she makes in these situations are the really interesting parts of the comics.
