Description
Limp Wrist is an autobiographical essay by Scout Wolfcave, which has been adapted and drawn by Penina Gal in this minicomic about the transmisogyny, bullying and abuse Scout received as a child. Assigned as a boy at birth, Scout dealt with a lot for not conforming to masculine norms when she grew up. She was verbally and physically abused by the adults that should have been protecting her, and kicked out of her home at an early age.
Penina translates the essay into a comic to help illustrate Scout’s trauma. While Penina employs some comics tricks to the zine, they refrain from exaggerating any of the adults’ features as visual cues to their monstrous acts. In doing this, Penina reminds us how ingrained outdated ideas of gender are to mainstream society.
Limp Wrist is published by Paper Rocket Minicomics.
