Description

Sam Nakahira crafts a creepy story of obsession in her comic, Copycat. When Mei, an art major is befriended by Katie, a fashion designer, she’s flattered that such a stylish person has taken an interest. Katie begins to admire and then mimic Mei’s style of dress, the way she wears her hair…and then things get weird. How far will Katie’s interest in what make Mei Mei go?

Sam grounds the comic in a sense of reality that adds to the unsettling nature of Katie’s behavior, and the consequences feel more real. Sam’s sense of humor throughout an otherwise disturbing story helps make for an enjoyable read as we barrel deeper and deeper in to Mei’s panicked world.
