Description
This is a really fun and inventive book about an apartment building that catches on fire! Â Originally published as a series of minicomics, Building Burning Comix is a hard-cover book that initially unfolds vertically to reveal a ten-story building, each floor containing a story of its tenant and their reaction when the building is consumed in fire. Readers are instructed to start at the first floor, and read its tenant’s story through to the end, then return to the first page of the second floor, and so on, up the building.
The tales in this book are simple and relatively light-hearted, even more mature issues are displayed with a cartoonish levity…which is not to say it’s an all-ages book, but there’s nothing harmful for a young teenager. Characters are more caricatures, given just enough details to tell their story: the satanist, the drunk, the child with an overbearing parent. It’s a quick and fun read, topped (quite literally) with the final two stories which intermingle, and provide some consequence to the actions being played out.
