E. A. Bethea is a New Yorker originally from New Orleans.
A creator of comics and poetry for a bunch of years, her work has been
in Bomb, No Tokens, Diner Journal, Randy, Smoke Signal,
ANMLY, Wopozi, and Oxford American, among others.
She is the author of numerous zines, Book of Daze (Domino Books, 2017), All Killer No Filler (self-published, 2018), Forlorn Toreador (self-published, 2019), and Francis Bacon (Domino Books, 2021).
Bethea's work was listed as a Notable Comic in the 2014 and 2018 volumes of the Best American Comics series. A two-page comic, "Bit Rot" was selected for inclusion in the 2019 volume. "Three Comics," published by Bomb Magazine, was short-listed for the Cartoonist Studio Prize for Best Web Comic in 2019. The Swiss comics magazine Strapazin translated several of her comics into German in 2019. In 2021, Francis Bacon received an Ignatz Award nomination for Outstanding Comic.
