Radiator Comics is thrilled to announce Dave Ortega’s debut graphic novel, Días de Consuelo, has been named an Overfloweth title by the Virginia Library Association’s Graphic Novel Diversity Award Committee.
Here’s what committee members said about Días de Consuelo:
“The artwork is fantastic and depicts elements of life within Mexico and later, in the United States. I was struck by the author’s attention to architecture and how it reflected a backlash against Mexican culture when the family moved into the U.S.”
“The focus of the story is on one person, but a lot of family members are well fleshed out and we feel emotions for them and their experiences.”
“This is a great story and provides great history around the Mexican Revolution that a lot of people might not know.”
Earlier this year, Días de Consuelo was a Finalist for the Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Award in the Graphic Novels & Comics category.
